Yeah, I don't want a bunch of the same song. A short list of 3-5 songs and let the contestants choose what they want to cover is better. At least limiting the selection would keep some cohesiveness.

I still don't see why there should be limitations. I don't sing, so if I did this it would be lame to send in a cover of me playing Disarm. But if it was fleshed out with other stuff, could be cool.

I think it was just to make it more accessible to people of all skill levels. I think there are pros and cons to both ways though. But it still sounds like fun!

1 instrument is too restrictive... especially if you count voice as an instrument (ie: the contest becomes bunch of people just strumming acoustic guitars). And if you don't then it's not really fair... that would mean anyone singing would get 2 tracks and everyone not only 1 (just coz someone doesn't want to sing doesn't mean they should be more limited).

No more than 4 tracks seems logical as it prohibits most bands (see: that asshole who keeps trying to promote his stupid SP tribute band and that's the only fucking thing he posts) and keeps people with way too much time on their hands from using it. As sotherbee said, it makes it more accessible to everyone.

So the maximum of 4 tracks rule is pretty set and not debatable like song choice. I'm not gonna make it less though. Also, the implied rule in that: no bands, no collaborations... has to be all you (obv I have no way of verifying that and don't care to bother, but... honor code).
