I'm sure you've all heard this show by now, but if not it's really good:
http://thepumpkins.net/music/701-mus...t-confidential I would have never thought in a million years that United States would sound good as an acoustic number. Also, I can't stand the song 'For God and Country', but it's not bad when done in this format.

What's the date of this show? Looks to me like this is not the 2007-06-05 Zitadelle Spandau acoustic show...

It's funny. But United States has more soul as an acoustic version. With the Piano strung thru it. Also on acoustic the boring guitar work has a little more texture.
The only thing I miss is Ginger doing some sha-na-na-na's. "Revolution.. sha-na-na-nya-na!" |

Christ!
All of Zeitgeist sounds better orchestrated as acoustic songs? Feeding the Orchid sounds like a fucking Machina song this way. (also I love ginger's backing vox) |

I'd be very interested to hear how much more I would have liked that whole record done acoustically. There's a couple of songs I really can't hear working that way (Tarantula, Doomsday Clock), but I would have said the same of United States.
I've only just noticed the name of the person who uploaded it. Can't wait to hear him weigh in.

I saw the tracklist and passed but everyone's comments have pushed me to listen. So far, I'm liking it.

I've always liked the "So here we are" hook. But I hate the "saaaaaaaavvvveeeeeee aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh bleeeeeedddddiiiinggg the orchiddaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" part. It has the holding awkward notes that have no resolution disease that Song For A Son has. Last edited by Wayne Arnold; 03-09-2010 at 10:53 AM. |

I too like the "So here we are" part. And I like Billy octave chords on the lead. But as a whole the song is

Agreed that Bleeding the Orchid sounds great here. Listen to some of those atmospherics around 1:20.

I guess this just is more proof that the songs are great, just poorly executed on the album.

This version of United States isn't working for me. It's a mess.

Not sure why I'm so into this version of That's the Way. I think I just love it when they add piano to the background of the songs. Quote:

In fairness, not all performances are as unique as this one is.

Granted, as a whole it's really really great. But there's [little] moments of magic in most every SP show
